Community Outreach

A bike is a transformative way for a child to see the world and build a lifelong habit of health and wellness.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, Florence Composite • Magic City Rollers (MCR) is a youth development program that strives to cultivate a supportive, inclusive community where young people can develop strong minds, bodies, character, and community through cycling.

Our goal is to get kids outside and active, reaping the benefits of cycling to combat the increased correlation of screen time, obesity, and mental health decline.

MCR seeks to share this opportunity with kids in Florence and surrounding areas, because more kids on bikes can change the world for the better.

More Kids On Bikes

In 2026 we launched a series of skills clinics in our community, and included the Boys and Girls Club of the Pee Dee.

During the clincs, kids build confidence by practicing problem-solving and decision-making in a supportive setting.

By the numbers:

  • 1 trailer full of bikes, helmets and water bottles

  • 3 events

  • 10 MCR students

  • 10 MCR coaches and volunteers

  • 25+ participants

A BIG thank you to the South Carolina Interscholastic Cycling League (SCICL) for loaning us their fleet of bikes!

Our greatest limitation during these events was providing a bicycle for each and every participant.

The goal is to remove this barrier to participation by building up a local fleet team bicycles for participants to use - whether during a single community event or potentially for a season on the team.

We are grateful for our community partners who are helping us move towards this goal.

Join us in our mission to get more kids on bikes in Florence.
